Jessica Elbert is more than The Muse of Music™, she is a love song temptress. Using jazz as her expression she creates worlds within the moments of a song. The simplicity of her interpretation of songs translates an accessibility and a depth to her audience. It is the combination of those two aspects of Jessica's performance that allows the audience to hear a song that they might have heard many times, as if it were the first time.
It is said that Jessica's first words were sung, not spoken. The recipient of many music accolades, she has been singing professionally for most of her life. By the age of 9, Jessica was a featured singer in her church and school choirs, which led her to formal classical operatic training by age 14. As a student at Washington University in St. Louis, Jessica won the award for “Best Soloist” by the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA), and appeared on the prestigious Best of College A Cappella (BOCA) produced by Varsity Vocals. In 2002 Jessica moved to New York City to pursue her career as a singer. She developed a serious passion for Jazz and soon after began to hone her considerable talent under the tutelage of Peter Eldridge and Jay Clayton. Jessica became a regular performer on the New York Jazz circuit, and in 2006 Jessica's momentum and increasing love for Jazz led her to record her debut album, “Anlage”. The blend of popular standards and Brazilian classics has made Jessica a regularly requested performer all across the United States. Jessica's ambition is to return vocal Jazz to the forefront of popular culture through her recorded and performance work. |
